KEEP & PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS PART I

                                      KEEP IN YOUR MIND:

When Sylvia travels, she can keep up with her work by using a laptop computer.

She keeps in touch with her coworkers through email.

(idiom: keep in touch = email, write, call; communicate)

The people in the audience couldn't keep themselves from laughing as they listened to the comedian perform his act.

Mother kangaroos keep their babies in a pouch on their stomach)

She keeps going out with her boyfriend even though he isn't very nice to her.
("Keep" is often followed by a gerund. In this case, the gerund is "going out.")

Many Americans keep using credit cards to make purchases even though this habit can cause financial problems later.

Sue had been keeping her cell phone in her purse, but now she keeps it in her front pocket.

A:Where does he keep his money?

B: He keeps it in a piggy bank.
It was being kept in a bank, but then he decided to keep it at home.

Some expressions that use the word
KEEP

  • Keep your fingers crossed. (Hope for something good to happen)
  • Keep your shirt on. (Wait.)
  • Keep me posted. (Let me know what's happening.)
  • Keep it to yourself. (Don't say anything to anyone else.)
  • Keep quiet. (Be quiet.)

 Since we're talking about verbs...

VAMOS VER O PRESENT PERFECT
CONTINUOUS, OK?

Então, no capítulo passado da novela...eita, não é nada disso...Na postagem anterior vimos  (agora melhorou!) como usar o Present Perfect.
Observem esse exemplo:

Agora comparem com o Presente Perfect:

She has been painting nos dá a idéia de continuidade
e em She has painted temos a ação terminada.

Por falar em terminar, termino o Continous depois.

Hasta la Vista, Baby!
